Dunbar Education is proud to partner with a dedicated SEN Provision in Milton Keynes that supports pupils aged 11-17 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges. We are currently seeking an experienced Education Liaison Officer to join their team and make a significant impact in the lives of these young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the SEN Provision and external educational institutions, ensuring a cohesive approach to support and resources.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage with parents, teachers, promoting collaboration in supporting students' needs.
  • Assess individual pupil needs, identifying barriers to learning and development, and provide tailored advice and support to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Monitor pupil progress and engagement, providing feedback and recommendations for necessary interventions and adjustments to support plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, social workers, and other professionals, to coordinate comprehensive support for pupils.
  • Conduct regular reviews of educational plans and interventions, ensuring that they remain effective and relevant to the needs of the pupils.
  • Advocate for pupils' needs within the educational system, ensuring they have access to the necessary resources and support.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of pupil interactions, progress, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and data protection regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with behavioural challenges, ideally within a SEN context.
  • A strong understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and their impact on educational performance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with pupils, families, and educational professionals.
  • Previous UK experience in a similar role (minimum of 6 months).

Requirements:

  • Must have a current DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting students with SEMH needs.
