We are currently recruiting for a Lab Technician to join a well established plastics manufacturer based in Milton Keynes. This is a permanent position working 8am-4pm Monday to Friday offering a salary from £30,000 per annum + excellent benefits including 6% annual bonus.As Lab Technician you will be reporting into the Technical Supervisor with responsibility for the accurate testing of polymer materials and assistance with Plant Support activities at Milton Keynes site. This role is 50/50 lab/office based. Duties will include:
  • Carry out accurate testing on polymer materials using injection moulding machines 
  • Accurate recording of parameters, test results and observations
  • Professionally and promptly completing administration/documentation requirements including sending material report to the customer for an approval
  • Ensure appropriate handling and storage of materials such as retained samples and product audit samples - up to 25kg
  • Organise appropriate retention and control of test material evidence
  • Support technical development projects and customer complaints including the investigation of technical issues , performing testing outside of “normal” QC type of testing in order to establish e.g. new product specifications
  • Focal Point for plant colour issues
  • Ensuring that product release is verified and completed in an accurate and timely manner entering QC test results into internal database and SAP, if product is in spec then the batch release will be performed in SAP. 
  • Support SAP/PLM software tasks
  • Preparation and dispatch of samples
  • Maintain a high standard of safety, housekeeping and hygiene at all times
  • Must work in compliance with the requirements of the site management systems (IATF16949, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
  • Over 2 years’ experience as Lab Technician or Calibration Engineer or similar with an engineering background
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical processing machinery/ tools
  • Experience in a plastics is advantageous but not essential 
  • Experience with SAP/PLM software is beneficial
  • GCSE Level A – C (or equivalent) in Mathematics, English, Sciences and A-Level (or equivalent) in Mathematics or Sciences subject
