Role Purpose

We are seeking an accomplished credit professional to lead and transform the credit management function for our financial services client. This senior position requires a commercially astute individual with strong leadership capabilities to enhance cash flow performance while maintaining robust risk controls across their commercial portfolio.

Key Accountabilities

Credit Risk Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and implement comprehensive credit policies aligned with business objectives
  • Establish risk-based customer credit limits and payment terms
  • Monitor portfolio performance indicators and implement early intervention protocols
  • Manage relationships with credit reference agencies and insurance providers

Receivables Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end collections process for a complex receivables portfolio
  • Implement targeted initiatives to improve Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) metrics
  • Drive digital transformation of collections processes through automation
  • Resolve escalated billing disputes and payment discrepancies

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, develop and mentor a high-performing credit control team
  • Establish clear performance metrics and service level agreements
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Commercial and Finance teams
  • Ensure compliance with FCA regulations and internal controls

Management Reporting

  • Prepare board-level reports on debt ageing and cash flow forecasting
  • Conduct detailed portfolio risk analysis and stress testing
  • Present strategic recommendations to executive committee
Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in credit management within financial services
  • Proven track record in B2B credit control and receivables management
  • Comprehensive understanding of credit risk assessment frameworks
  • Experience implementing process improvements in credit operations

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced analysis and reporting skills
  • Working knowledge of UK financial services regulation
  • Proficiency with credit management systems (e.g., Experian, Equifax)
