Position overview

The Technical Operative assists with the demonstrations within the customer centre to include pre-testing and equipment staging of machines organisation. With the assistance of the Customer Centre Manager you will run tests, capture the test setup information and learnings and produce follow up reports to effectively share test learnings with the customer and the wider business. The Technical Operative will have the ability to communicate and interact with an array of customers from all different backgrounds within the food industry.

Key Dutiesandresponsibilities

  • Demonstrate the full range and extended usage of the machines and equipment
  • Daily setting up machinery in various configurations complete with all relevant attachments and accessories - approximately 25 different processing and packaging machines with multiple variations of each machine to address customer requirements.
  • Routine maintenance of machines
  • Assembling and disassembling machinery and associated customer centre hygiene.
  • Ability to diagnose and can identify issues in a timely manner and at times under pressure in front of customers.
  • Adapting settings and/ or machinery setups to suit product requirements.
  • Educating the customer in equipment operation, troubleshooting and capabilities
  • Accurately capture and document information during testing and trials for customers and the Team
  • Create daily report data to include photos, video, and equipment settings captured during the days testing
  • Getting hands dirty on a regular basis.
  • Ability to locate the correct parts for each job from stock, book these out and back into stock once completed.

  • Ability to lift and move machinery parts using appropriate equipment including utilising FLT at times
  • Preparing for shows, open days and working events.

Skills&Experience

Necessary Qualifications/Skills

  • Maintenance, electrical or mechanical apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 and a technical qualification or equivalent)
  • Highly computer literate (previous use of office: word, excel, outlook) and ability to learn new systems
  • The ability and confidence to demonstrate the functionality of complex machinery to clients when required
  • Strong customer service skills and an approachable, friendly manner. You will naturally go the extra mile for customers to ensure the best possible experience
  • An aptitude for engineering and hands-on work
  • Excellent attention to detail
