AJ Chambers are delighted to be representing a Top 40 Firm seeking an Audit Assistant Manager to join their Milton Keynes team.

This firm provides a high-quality, personalised service to businesses and individuals, offering expertise across audit, accountancy, tax, and financial planning. Their focus on practical solutions and simplifying complex issues is paired with a commitment to exceeding client expectations at every stage.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of audit and non-audit clients, working closely with partners (role split 80% audit, 20% accounts).
  • Plan, supervise, and carry out audits for clients with turnovers up to £250 million, including specialist audits (FCA, pensions, charities).
  • Prepare statutory accounts, consolidated accounts (under FRS102), and draft corporation tax computations.
  • Supervise and support junior staff with technical issues, ensuring jobs are completed on time and within budget.
  • Analyse trial balances, review balance sheets, and complete profit and loss accounts before submission for review.
  • Deliver audit fieldwork recommendations and respond to group reporting requests.
  • Drive improvements in audit delivery while adding value to clients with forward-thinking approaches.
  • Take an active role in staff training, mentoring, and development, including contributing to internal courses.
  • Monitor and manage billing, budgets, and variances while assisting in generating new business for the Audit function.
Requirements:
  • ACA/ACCA qualified with experience in practice.
  • Skilled in auditing and preparing accounts for businesses up to £40 million turnover, including group accounts.
  • Experience with pension schemes, FCA entities, LLPs, and charities is highly desirable.
