Are you ready to advance your career in tax? I am looking for a Tax Assistant Manager to join my client's growing team and manage a portfolio of small to medium-sized clients, including companies, partnerships, sole traders, and directors. You'll have the opportunity to lead compliance work, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with senior managers and directors on client portfolios.

About the Role:

As a Corporate & Business Tax Assistant Manager, you'll focus on compliance work while developing your skills in tax planning and advisory services.

Main Duties:

  • Compliance Work:

    • Review statutory accounts and adjust for tax-sensitive figures.
    • Finalise and submit company tax returns.
    • Review/prepare income tax computations and returns for sole traders and partnerships.
    • Review/prepare personal tax returns, forms P11Ds, PSAs, CIS returns, and ERS returns.
    • Manage corporate and personal compliance processes, handle client communications, and respond to ad hoc queries.
    • Assist with HMRC enquiries on factual matters related to tax returns.
  • Team Development:

    • Mentor and train junior staff, fostering their growth and expertise.
  • Future Growth Opportunities:

    • Collaborate with senior managers, directors, and tax partners to deliver tax planning and advisory services to your portfolio of clients.
What I'm Looking For:

I am seeking a motivated and experienced professional with the following qualifications, experience, and skills:

Qualifications:
  • CTA qualified
Experience:
  • 3-4 years' experience in a tax practice
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and personal tax legislation
Skills & Attributes:
  • Able to apply technical knowledge to practical situations confidently.
  • Self-sufficient, with the ability to work independently while adhering to the firm's risk management framework.
  • A proactive and client-focused approach, delivering excellent service.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable mentoring junior team members and collaborating with colleagues, senior managers, and directors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience in tax preparation software such as Alphatax, CCH Audit Automation, and CCH Personal Tax (training provided if required).
