Service Care Solutions is currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Case Progression Officer to work on a full-time, long-term basis in Milton Keynes. Job Title: Case Progression Officer

a. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The overall purpose of the role is to facilitate the effective progression of all cases from charging decision to trial. This involves working closely with internal police units, CPS, and Courts to ensure the productive use of judicial time through early identification of issues that might delay the court process.

b. KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS:

  1. Accountable for processing receipt of Court results, identifying cases for upgrade, and providing early notification of results to Officers.
  2. Contribute to the efficiency of information by accurately maintaining case-file information within agreed timeframes using appropriate systems and databases.
  3. Use IT systems to monitor scheduled work, ensuring timely file preparation, and escalate issues that might cause delays.
  4. Communicate with Officers, Justice Gateway, and ERO's to progress files in accordance with organization timeframes.
  5. Act as a central point of contact for all Agencies, providing information on repeat issues to the CJ Operational Manager.
  6. Provide appropriate information on disclosure, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act and other legislation.
  7. Maintain consistently high-quality customer service, challenging working practices, and making recommendations for improvement.

c. DIMENSIONS: To review and chase files daily/weekly, including First Hearing Files, Full File Upgrades, Judges Orders, Defence Case Statements, and Proposed Discontinuances. Ensure all timeframes are met and submission of work to agencies complies with standards/quality in line with the National File Standard.

d. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ROLE: Expertise (E/D):

  1. Good standard of education with GCSEs (Grade 9-4/A-C) in English and Maths or equivalent.
  2. Recent experience in an administrative role within a customer service environment, including the use of databases.
  3. Proven ability to use initiative and problem-solve within a team environment, making effective decisions within tight time constraints.
  4. Proven time management and organizational skills to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines.
  5. Proven attention to detail, producing accurate work.
  6. Proven clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with interpersonal skills.
  7. Willing to work towards NVQ Business Administration level 2 or equivalent and/or significant experience in this area.
  8. Capability to travel to different locations across the Force and undertake assignments in a timely manner.
  9. Proven Knowledge and/or understanding of the Criminal Justice System, MS Office packages, and police databases (desirable).
  10. Knowledge or experience of partnership and/or multi-agency working (desirable).
