Facilities/Grounds Maintenance Technician

Location: Great Linford, Milton Keynes

Reports To: Environment and Facilities Officer

Salary: £14.60 - £17.27 per hour, dependent on experience

Are you passionate about maintaining outdoor spaces and community facilities? Do you have a hands-on, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving? Our client, a local Parish Council, is looking for a Facilities/Grounds Maintenance Technician to join their team, helping to keep their public spaces safe, tidy, and welcoming for residents and visitors alike.

About the Role

As part of our Environment and Facilities team, you will contribute to the upkeep of our landscapes and assets, ensuring they remain in top condition. Your responsibilities will be varied, ranging from landscaping and maintenance to supporting community events and conducting health and safety checks across parish facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out landscaping activities, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, tree planting, and general upkeep of public spaces.
  • Manage and maintain tools, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
  • Conduct periodic inspections and risk assessments of parish facilities.
  • Perform asset maintenance and minor repairs in areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and decorating.
  • Assist with community events and support volunteers, ensuring activities are well-organised and safe.
  • Collaborate with partners on various community-led initiatives.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring the safety of yourself and the public.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in a multi-trade environment, particularly with landscaping and maintenance tools.
  • Knowledge of basic DIY, landscaping techniques, health and safety protocols, and manual handling.
  • Skills in practical problem-solving, repairs, and effective communication with the public.
  • Personal attributes include positivity, calmness, flexibility, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A valid UK driver's licence is essential.

Experience working within local authorities or not-for-profit organisations, a First Aid certificate, or an NVQ Level 3/4 qualification in a relevant field would be advantageous
