Description

You will provide accurate and timely advice on legal principles and procedures relating to a wide range of legal and commercial issues. Your responsibilities will include

  • Review and provide advice on legal and commercial issues in new contracts with customers and suppliers.
  • Assist in negotiating new contracts with customers and/or suppliers.
  • Providing general legal advice to all areas of the business which can include advising on employment, IT, procurement and other departments
  • Provide interpretation and advice of existing contracts where disputes have arisen. Advise on strategies for effective dispute resolution.
  • Dealing with claims issued against the business. This includes assessing the merits or otherwise of the claim and providing advice on how to deal with the claim to ensure the best possible result.
  • Ensure business is run in accordance with the organisation's Corporate Governance policies and procedures and in accordance with applicable law.

Profile

The successful applicant will be a Legal Counsel with a passion for legal matters in logistics, commercial and corporate law, and data protection. This role will focus on fully supporting the organization on a wide range of legal and compliance issues.

You will be a Solicitor, qualified in England & Wales, Scotland, or an equivalent Common Law Jurisdiction and have:

  • experience of a broad range of commercial transactions and legal matters preferably with of cross border and international element
  • experience dealing with outsourcing transactions including agreements dealing with transfer of assets and the transfer of employees through the application of the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006.
  • a good working knowledge of all the international conventions and standard trading conditions eg CMR, Hague Visby Rules, Warsaw Convention, Montreal Convention, FIATA, BIFA, RHA etc.

Highly Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the logistics industry and experience of dealing with freight forwarding ie sea freight, air freight, overland, integrated logistics and multimodal.
