Dunbar Education is proud to be working in partnership with an exceptional SEN provision in Milton Keynes to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher with Functional Skills Experience. This is an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified teacher who is ready to take on a rewarding challenge and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.

About the Role:
This role involves teaching English to students in KS3 and KS4 within a supportive SEN environment. While experience with KS5 is desirable, it is not essential. The successful candidate must have experience teaching functional skills and be passionate about working with SEN learners. They should also demonstrate the resilience and creativity needed to inspire and motivate students while effectively managing challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons, including English Functional Skills, tailored to the needs of SEN students.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Effectively manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members and external professionals to support student progress.
  • Monitor and assess student outcomes, providing constructive feedback to students, parents, and the school team.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working with SEN students and a strong understanding of their needs.
  • Proven experience teaching English Functional Skills in an educational setting.
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviours and implementing supportive strategies.
  • A commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of students.
  • KS5 experience is advantageous but not essential.
