Instructor of Motor Vehicles

My school is seeking a dedicated Instructor of Motor Vehicles to lead and deliver comprehensive training in basic motor vehicle studies. This role involves preparing students for accredited qualifications and managing the motor vehicle workshop to ensure a safe and effective learning environment. A level 2 in mechanics is needed.
Job Purpose:
- Lead the teaching of basic motor vehicle studies, including health and safety, engine building, and general maintenance.
- Prepare students for an accredited SEG award in Motor Vehicles.
- Manage the motor vehicle workshop, ensuring it is a safe working environment with sufficient materials and tools.
- Develop and implement schemes of work, lesson planning, assessments, and all necessary recording and reporting to maximise course completion and student attendance.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Develop and tailor motor vehicle resources up to Certificate level ABC to meet individual needs and interests.
- Maintain and update syllabuses, schemes of work, session plans, and course files for all classes and courses taught.
- Prepare students for accredited courses following awarding body guidelines, ensuring registration for assessments and examinations.
- Monitor student attendance, retention, and progress in vocational courses.
- Implement safety procedures and risk assessments in line with Trust Health and Safety policies.
- Promote and develop innovative learning, assessment, and teaching methodologies tailored to individual student needs.
- Create learning materials to enhance students' learning, attainment, achievement, and progress.
- Organize and facilitate extracurricular activities, trips, and enrichment activities related to motor vehicles.
- Assess students' work, monitor progress, and use this information for future planning and target setting.
- Embed literacy and numeracy into curriculum delivery and identify assessment opportunities.
- Identify and provide appropriate support for individual students and groups, liaising with the Deputy Principal for specialist advice.
- Assist in identifying and organizing work placements if necessary.
- Manage student behaviour within the framework of the Academy’s policies.
- Act as a form tutor with associated responsibilities.
- Perform any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
