Our client is looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join their busy Transport team.Job Description:As a Transport Planner, you will play a critical role in planning the day to day delivery operation of a busy multi faceted Transport department.  Shift Pattern: Any 5 out of 7 days (weekends are included)Hours: 0900 - 1700Salary: £34,390This role will initially be a temporary position, however the client has a permanent vacancy within the team and are open to a temp to perm for the right candidate.Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and allocate drivers and resources to meet operational demands and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinate deliveries and collections, ensuring that all delivery windows are met.
  • Maximise the utilisation of drivers and vehicles daily, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain and update transport records, including deliveries, returns, and rebookings.
  • Produce and distribute the transport plan.
  • Prepare daily driver packs, ensuring all relevant paperwork and instructions are included for successful job completion.
  • Manage driver start times and support the Transport Clerks in ensuring compliance with driver’s hours legislation and the Working Time Directive (WTD).
  • Promptly respond to emails and phone calls related to delivery requirements.
Successful Applicants:
  • Proven experience in transport planning.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in transport modeling software (e.g., Paragon, Microlise, Flexipod, and Microsoft applications).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to transport planning.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • An eye for detail.
