We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Sales and Purchase Ledger Clerk. This is a key role reporting to the Finance Manager and offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive environment.

Job Summary:

The Sales and Purchase Ledger Clerk is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of both the sales and purchase ledgers. This involves processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely payments. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Ledger:
    • Generating and issuing sales invoices.
    • Posting and allocating customer payments.
    • Reconciling customer accounts and resolving discrepancies.
    • Chasing overdue payments and managing aged debt.
    • Maintaining accurate customer records.
    • Preparing sales reports and analysis.
  • Purchase Ledger:
    • Processing and coding purchase invoices.
    • Matching purchase orders to invoices and delivery notes.
    • Reconciling supplier statements.
    • Preparing payment runs.
    • Resolving supplier queries.
    • Maintaining accurate supplier records.
  • General Ledger Support:
    • Assisting with month-end closing procedures.
    • Performing other related accounting tasks as required.
  • Other Duties:
    • Filing and archiving documents.
    • Providing administrative support to the finance team.
    • Contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Experience with accounting software, Sage is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive and positive attitude.
