Hours: Full-time, Standard Teaching Hours with Full Teaching Responsibilities

Position Overview:
We are looking for an inspiring and experienced Subject Leader - English to join our school in Milton Keynes from January. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced English teacher ready to take on a leadership role, or for a current Subject Leader looking for a new challenge. You will lead the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and helping to shape the English curriculum across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the English department, supporting and developing a team of teachers to deliver high-quality English lessons.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Drive improvement in student outcomes and progress within the English department, using data to monitor and evaluate performance.
  • Lead curriculum planning and development, ensuring lessons are engaging, differentiated, and aligned with school goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on teaching strategies, classroom management, and professional development for English teachers.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment and foster a culture of academic excellence in English.
  • Support whole-school initiatives and contribute to the wider school community.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a proven track record of success in teaching English at secondary level.
  • Leadership experience or a strong desire to take on a leadership role within the department.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and passion for English.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire students and staff and to drive improvements in teaching and learning.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and development.
