Science Subject Leader – Chemistry or Physics

We are supporting a local community secondary comprehensive with appointing a Science Subject Leader to their School on a permanent basis.

About the School: Their vision is to develop students who are the foundation of a progressive society, leading to future prosperity and security. They aim to educate a new generation of scientists who will grow intellectually and build upon the achievements of previous generations. Their dedicated team of twenty-eight specialists, supported by eight technicians, works across two campuses. They are led by a Director of Science, assisted by two Leading Teachers and six Subject Leaders.

The Role: They are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Science Teacher to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering inspiring and engaging lessons that set challenging targets for students and support them in reaching their goals. You will be teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and Post 16, contributing to our modular approach at Key Stage 3 and specialized teaching at Key Stage 4 and Post 16.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and Post 16.
  • Develop students’ skills in asking questions, developing and using models, planning and carrying out investigations, and analysing and interpreting data.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share ideas, resources, and expertise.
  • Participate in enrichment opportunities, including Science Club, STEM Club, and national competitions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in a Science-related subject.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level.
  • Strong knowledge of the Science curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
