Community Support Worker - Advertised by Academics on behalf of our Partner School- up to £21,000 permanent salary- Education and Training

Main Purpose: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide learning and care support for a pupil with special educational needs (SEN). You will play a key role in helping the pupil work towards the outcomes of their education and health care plan (EHCP). The position involves collaborating with the class teacher to plan and deliver activities, while also supporting routines, transitions, and behaviour management. You will also have the opportunity to assist with community-based activities or attendance at alternative provisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supporting the Pupil:

  • Build positive relationships to promote self-esteem, independence, and social inclusion.
  • Support high standards of behaviour and respond to incidents in line with the school's behaviour policy.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of individual education, support, and care plans.
  • Provide support for the pupil's social, emotional, and mental health needs, escalating concerns when appropriate.

Teaching and Learning:

  • Utilize effective teaching strategies to support the teacher and boost the pupil's achievement.
  • Assist in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities inside and outside the classroom.
  • Help the pupil access a broad and balanced curriculum to reach their full potential.
  • Facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation in both learning and extracurricular activities.
  • Use behaviour management strategies in accordance with the school's policies.
  • Organize and manage learning spaces and resources to create a safe and stimulating environment.
  • Monitor and report on the pupil's progress and attainment.

Collaboration with Staff, Parents/Carers, and Professionals:

  • Share insights and knowledge about the pupil with school staff and professionals from education, health, and social care sectors.
  • Maintain clear communication with staff, parents/carers, and relevant professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and other colleagues to support the pupil.
  • Develop professional relationships with colleagues to foster a supportive work environment.
