The Role

As an Education Welfare Liaison Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring students attend regularly, engage fully, and thrive in their educational journey. This involves working collaboratively with families, external agencies, and school staff to identify barriers to attendance and provide effective support and intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor student attendance, identifying patterns and addressing concerns.
  • Build trusting relationships with families to encourage positive engagement with the school.
  • Liaise with external agencies, such as social services and healthcare professionals, to support students and families.
  • Provide advice and guidance on improving attendance and overcoming barriers to education.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports on attendance and interventions.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the SLT to develop strategies for student well-being and engagement.


About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about education and committed to supporting young people with additional needs.
  • A strong communicator, able to engage effectively with students, families, and professionals.
  • Experienced in working with children or young people, particularly in an SEN or welfare capacity (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding and child protection, with the ability to handle sensitive situations.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
