Overview:

The Internal Technical Services (ITS) Team is responsible for the installation and support for all Technical Platforms, Operating Systems, Authentication Systems and associated products delivered internally.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the IT Engineer will work alongside specialists within the Team, taking responsibility for all aspects of the ITS Team’s work. With emphasis on the Technical Services function, you will be managing and supporting the corporate infrastructure upon which the organisation operates, with the opportunity to be involved in new and emerging projects from their inception.

The IT Engineer will work closely with the numerous departments that comprise the organisation, ensuring that the comprehensive support service is maintained and therefore sustaining the strong inter-departmental relationships that have been forged to date.

The successful candidate will be provided with on-the-job training for all supported Platforms, Operating Systems etc., but is expected to have prior experience of Microsoft Azure, Networking and Windows Server Technologies. Access to key learning resources will also be made available to the successful candidate, via our well-established Microsoft Partnership.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Basic Requirements:

  • Provide first-class advice and support to employees and extended partners
  • Management and pro-active monitoring of the corporate infrastructure
  • Management and support of Microsoft Intune & Endpoint Management for devices and applications
  • Management and support of network components for all managed service platforms
  • Implementation of application patching and system upgrades
  • Adherence to company & team policies and working practices
  • Participation in the following rotas with commitment to work outside of these hours if required:
    • Office-Cover Rota, between 08:00 and 18:00
    • On-Call Rota, between 18:00 and 08:00

Skills & Experience:

Essentials:

  • Minimum of three years in a Technical Support or Engineer-based Role
  • Windows Server Platform System Administration
  • Microsoft Intune Management & Administration
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
  • Experience of Virtualisation Technologies (including Hyper-V)
  • Experience of Networking Concepts, Topologies and Maintenance, with focus on Cisco technologies
  • Experience of Service Monitoring and Alerting
  • Experience of routine Infrastructure Upgrades and Application Patching
  • Excellent:
    • Verbal and Written Communication Skills
    • Demonstrable Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving Skills
    • Documentation Skills, producing guides and supporting knowledgebase articles
    • Organisational Skills, with the ability to manage personal workloads in accordance with agreed timescales, whilst working under pressure

For out of hours support, there is a flat rate paid for the period of on call and this is a 1 in 4 rota. This runs between 1800 and 0800 Monday to Friday and a full 48 hours at the weekend."
