This role is key to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of our production facility. You will diagnose and resolve breakdowns, lead engineering projects, and implement preventative maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and enhance operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Breakdown Diagnosis & Repair - Identify and resolve mechanical or electrical breakdowns, conduct root cause analysis, and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.

Project Leadership - Manage installations, equipment overhauls, and factory-wide improvements, working with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.

Preventative Maintenance (PM) - Develop and implement a structured PM system, ensuring maintenance tasks are completed effectively during scheduled downtimes.

Regulatory & Compliance - Ensure engineering projects meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and site-wide compliance policies.

Equipment Performance & Improvement - Drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhance equipment efficiency, and introduce autonomous maintenance processes.

Budget & Cost Control - Manage repair and maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

Third-Party Management & Site Safety - Oversee external contractors, enforce safe work systems, and coordinate engineering activities to minimise disruption.

Audit & Quality Standards - Maintain high GMP engineering standards, prepare for external audits, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Flexible Working Hours - Occasionally work outside of usual hours to carry out maintenance and repairs at times that minimise production downtime.

What We're Looking For

Qualified Engineer - Electrical or Mechanical qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

Problem-Solver - Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills in a fast-paced environment.

Hands-On Experience - Background in production machinery, industrial processing equipment, mixers, conveyors, packaging machinery, automation & PLCs.

Project & Maintenance Expertise - Experience in continuous improvement projects, new machinery installations, and preventative maintenance planning.

Technical Knowledge - Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings.

Collaboration & Leadership - Strong communication skills to work with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors.

Safety & Quality Focused - Committed to maintaining compliance with health & safety regulations and industry best practices
