Education Learning Support Practitioner
Location: Minehead, Somerset
Hourly Rate: £11.72 - £12.78
Annual Salary: £22,554.34 - £24,593.46 (FTE £24,378.00 - £26,582.00)
Hours: 40 hours per week Term time plus additional days and training (42 weeks per year)
Contract: 12-month FTC
Join our team at a specialist college and training hotel for young people with learning disabilities, located in the friendly seaside town of Minehead. Our program is dedicated to transforming lives by equipping students with essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to shape their futures independently. We focus on preparing young adults for sustainable employment in the hospitality industry and empowering them to live independently.
The main purpose of the role:
As an Education Learning Support Practitioner, you will assist students across all areas of vocational training and support the operations of the hotel business. In this role, you will directly contribute to our mission of preparing young adults with learning disabilities for employment and independent living.
Key duties:
- Set high expectations for all students, encouraging them to reach their full potential.
- Provide consistent support during learning sessions to facilitate student progress.
- Help manage student behaviour professionally, seeking guidance when appropriate.
- Work closely with tutors to ensure each students progress is documented, evidenced, and evaluated effectively.
- Develop creative resources that support and enhance student learning.
- Maintain the confidentiality, privacy, and dignity of all students, adhering to our equality and diversity policy.
Please note: This role involves shift work on a two-week rotating schedule, including every other weekend. Typical shift times are 7:30 am-3:30 pm and 1:30 pm-9:30 pm.
Skills and Qualifications
Successful candidate qualities:
- Experience in a similar role is desirable, but training is provided for the right candidate.
- Background in the care or education industry.
- Understanding of working with individuals with disabilities (desirable).
- Level 2 in English and Maths.
- Level 3 qualification in education (or willingness to complete a qualification).
