Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for an Alternative Provision Lead to join a supportive and dynamic team at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Mitcham.
Job Title: SEN Alternative Provision Lead
Location: Mitcham
Full-Time: 5 days per week
Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm, plus parent evenings
Salary: Leadership pay scale salaries are determined by the national pay scales
Start Date: ASAP (January 2025)
End Date: On-going
Contract Type (temp/perm/temp to perm): Temporary with the opportunity to go permanent
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the provision of education and support for students in the PRU, ensuring tailored interventions to meet their individual needs.
Oversee the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
Manage a team of teaching assistants, ensuring they are effectively supporting students in and outside the classroom.
Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to monitor student progress and well-being.
Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes positive behaviour, emotional development, and academic progress.
Provide guidance and support to students to improve their social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
Foster strong relationships with students and staff to promote a positive school culture.
Key Requirements:
Experience in an Alternative Provision or similar setting is desirable.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Excellent knowledge of SEN, SEMH, and behaviour management strategies.
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including parents and external professionals.
A commitment to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
QTS or equivalent
Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST
Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child related references that cover the last 2 years
