Responsibilities as a Healthcare Assistant:

  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.

  • Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.

  • Support patients in maintaining personal hygiene and comfort.

  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.

  • Assist in preparing patients for medical procedures and examinations.

  • Collect samples for testing, such as blood, urine, or swabs, as directed.

  • Help with wound care, dressing changes, and administering medication under supervision.

  • A healthcare assistant is expected to maintain accurate patient records and documentation.

  • Work closely with nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Qualifications and Experience of a Healthcare Assistant:

  • Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is advantageous.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is desirable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and assisting patients alongside another healthcare assistant.

  • Resilience to cope with challenging situations and emotional demands of patient care.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
