Overview
Our client within the engineering sector are currently recruiting a highly motivated and skilled Project Manager or Project Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects in the water and wastewater sector*. This role emphasizes a strong technical understanding of Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering and a commitment to safety, quality, and cost-efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Maintain and enforce a safe workplace environment, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety policies and regulations.
- Uphold the highest safety standards across operations, including adherence to SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) and CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
- Oversee all aspects of project delivery, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the agreed-upon quality standards.
- Develop and monitor detailed project plans, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Lead and motivate project teams and subcontractors to achieve project goals efficiently and collaboratively.
- Foster a culture of innovation, professional growth, and high morale within the team.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.
- Chair key meetings and provide timely project updates to stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with clients and third-party stakeholders to ensure smooth project integration and delivery.
- Address and resolve complex project issues swiftly to minimize disruptions.
- Provide accurate and transparent reporting to stakeholders and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Work with leadership to identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Demonstrate adaptability in taking on additional responsibilities to meet organizational priorities.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing water and wastewater projects through the full lifecycle (preferred but not essential).
- Relevant industry qualifications (e.g., HNC, Degree, NVQ Level 4 in Site Supervision, ONC).
- Valid certifications, including CSCS/ECS/SKILLcard, SMSTS, and First Aid at Work (mandatory).
- Expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, water/wastewater operations, and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Familiarity with SHEQ and CDM compliance processes.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
