Your new SchoolHays are recruiting a Full-Time Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant in Monmouthshire working in a mainstream secondary school's special educational needs department. The school caters for pupils aged 11-18 and offers mainstream and ALN support, with this role being within the school's SRB base, offering additional time and support for a smaller group of students. Duties shall include working with small groups of students aged 11-14 with additional learning needs and some aspects of challenging behaviour. Your role shall largely consist of offering educational as well as emotional support, de-escalating any challenging behaviour, and ensuring that the students are given the opportunity to effectively engage in their academic work. The school is highly regarded and well respected, creating and maintaining a supporting environment for staff and students alike. The SRB team are eager to welcome friendly, eager, and passionate Teaching Assistants to the team. Your new role.The role is confirmed long-term for a January start, working 5 days a week. However, the school are also looking for part-time members of staff. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:

  • Working with small groups of students within a Mainstream school's SRB / SEN setting.
  • Supporting small groups of students aged 11-14.
  • Demonstrating high levels of patience and empathy when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
  • Working closely as part of a team with other members of the teaching staff.
  • Assisting teachers as they implement their lesson plans.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all students.

What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience working with children over the course of the last 2 - 3 years.
