Job Purpose

The Strategy & Logistics Directorate at Montrose is essential to the manufacture and supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. The Warehouse Operative + position supports these efforts by ensuring compliant storage, handling, control, dispensing, and dispatch of materials, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

This role incorporates the use of handheld RF devices, the site M-ERP system, additional site-specific software applications, and the Microsoft Office suite to maintain accurate inventory management, reporting, and communication. Success in this position also requires adaptability to perform effectively across diverse work environments, including outdoor, covered, and indoor warehouse settings, adjusting to varying conditions, including heavy manual handling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Material Handling and Equipment Operation: Manage the safe receipt, storage, and distribution of raw materials, intermediates, and APIs while safely operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment. This includes offloading bulk solvents via tanker operations, tank to tank transfers and sampling wet materials, maintaining full compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Shipping of Final Products: Coordinate the accurate picking, packing, and shipping of final APIs to customers. Prepare detailed packing lists and collective manifests to ensure precision and facilitate timely delivery, while maintaining compliance with all shipping and quality standards. Additionally, certain APIs and samples shall require the creation of Dangerous Goods Notes, necessitating adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Dispensary Operations: Accurately dispense raw materials, intermediates, and final products for manufacturing and dispatch, ensuring adherence to procedural, quality, and regulatory standards. This includes performing precise dispensing and labelling of materials, collaborating closely with production teams to ensure timely availability of dispensed materials while maintaining full traceability. Follow safety and quality protocols to protect personnel and product, while maintaining GMP and 5S housekeeping standards.
  • Inventory Management: Utilise handheld RF devices and the site M-ERP (Warehouse Management) system to ensure accurate inventory tracking such as cycle counting, reporting, reconciliation.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate records in line with Data Integrity principles to ensure traceability and compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Physical Tasks and PPE: Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving loads of varying weights, while adhering to proper manual handling techniques. Ensure the use and maintenance of appropriate PPE for all activities. This includes gloves, gowns, masks, and other protective equipment as required to maintain safety and prevent contamination.
  • Team Collaboration and Initiative: Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations, while also demonstrating the ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Training and Development: Engage in comprehensive training programs to gain proficiency in all required tasks, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards. All tasks will be supervised until you have completed the necessary training to work independently. Additionally, you will be required to complete Dangerous Goods courses every two years to maintain compliance with regulations for shipping hazardous materials and ensure safe handling practices.
  • Shift Flexibility: Work on a designated shift pattern, which may vary from time to time, with flexibility to accommodate peak periods or urgent manufacturing needs.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute to problem solving within the warehouse and dispensary operations to drive business value.Due to nature of this role, we require an experienced warehouse/stores person.
