We have a new opportunity for a PRINCIPAL EC&I ENGINEER, working in the nuclear industry, based on the Westlakes Science & Technology Park near Whitehaven.

Initially for 12 months and can be worked on a hybrid basis. Will need to be able to gain SC Clearance.

The role will involve the delivery of engineering design in support of PZPSP for the provision of 11kV Substation Module(s), Switchboard and Ancillaries.

The Product Zone Power Supply Project (PZPSP) is an electrical infrastructure project that aims to develop a section of the End State Network upon which the future site expansion can be accommodated. The End State Network is delivered by two Major projects: Electrical Distribution Network Upgrade Project (EDNU) and PZPSP. The primary focus of PZPSP is to provide power to the future Product Zone on the Sellafield Site, whilst also providing site interconnections for site power transfer in line with operational requirements.

The role requires good knowledge of design, construction and commissioning of 11kV Substations, HV cable routing and associated control cabling.

The role will support the SL Responsible Engineer (RE) and experience of the following is required:
Design of services,
Plant/Site modification (design and implementation),
Nuclear Safety and Hazard Management,
Input to Programmes, Quality Plans and Scope of Work documents.
Attendance at HAZOPs and HAZCONs
Production of engineering documentation and drawings, including but not limited to Site Survey Reports, Single Line Diagrams (including protection diagrams), Cable Routing, Block Cable Diagrams, CDM Risk Assessments, Cable Calculations Cable Cards, Outline Installation Method Statements, CAE, input to optioneering, etc.
BIM Coordination
Support to Single Discipline Design Review & Production of Minutes of Meetings.

The role will involve the production and checking of engineering deliverables to support design development through concept, preliminary and detail design phases as required.
The role requires knowledge and experience in project delivery throughout the complete project lifecycle and interface with the Integrated Design Team, Utilities and Ot.


ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Previous experience working within a highly regulated industry.
Familiar with a range of available CAE technologies and techniques.
Capable of independent and autonomous work during the delivery of design packages.
Capable of working closely and effectively with engineers to deliver compliant design deliverables.
Able to actively seek input from other engineers, specialists, Utilities and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit for purpose solutions.
Able to manage a package of work being delivered by the supply chain.
Be able to present information in forms specifically aimed at a variety of target audiences.
Ability to demonstrate competence in a design role (SQEP) in line with the role description detailed above.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
Experience in use of AutoCAD
Experience in use of AVEVA electrical or similar CE&I design packages, Experience of any Sellafield or nuclear industry CE&I Design.
Chartered (or close to chartered) engineer.
Experience of leading work packages providing guidance to junior engineers in establishing solutions to technical problems


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Degree qualified CE&I Engineer (or equivalent through enhanced experience).
