Behaviour Mentor - SEMH School in Merton, London | Full-Time |

We are currently seeking a full-time Behaviour Mentor to work with students in a supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school located in the London Borough of Merton. This is an immediate start opportunity, subject to registration, and offers a competitive daily rate of 85 to 110, paid weekly. The role is full-time, and part-time applicants cannot be considered. The position will initially be long-term temporary, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role for the right candidate.



About the Role:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will be supporting pupils who face challenges related to emotional and behavioural difficulties, often linked to social and emotional health issues. Your role will be to work closely with students to help them manage and improve their behaviour, and to foster a positive and productive school experience. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying students in need of additional support and working with staff to assess their needs
  • Delivering one-to-one mentoring sessions with pupils to help them manage their emotions and behaviour
  • Creating and implementing behaviour management strategies tailored to individual students
  • Developing personalised action plans to support students' behavioural and emotional development
  • Collaborating with SENCos and other school staff to ensure effective support
  • Tracking progress and monitoring behavioural improvements for each pupil
  • Organising structured lunchtime activities for pupils displaying challenging behaviour during breaks
  • Liaising with families to ensure support is consistent at home and in school


What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working in a school setting is essential
  • Experience working with SEMH students is highly desired, but not mandatory
  • A clear and enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with students
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience to work with students facing complex behavioural challenges
  • A commitment to being a positive role model with the ability to inspire and motivate students
  • A full-time availability as the position is non-negotiable for part-time applicants
