Family Advisor

Duration: Initially 3 monthsHours: 35 hours per weekRate: £25 umbrella an hour

Merton Council are looking for a Family Advisor to join their 14+ Preparing for Adulthood Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical help and direct support to young people and young adults using the service from age 16 and are in care, or have recently left care (up to age 25) or who are unaccompanied asylum seeking children to become independent and inspire them to set ambitious goals for them selves
  • Manage a caseload involving the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of appropriate action, to ensure that the right resources are deployed to safeguard and promote the welfare of care experienced young people
  • Use agreed assessment frameworks in collaboration with the individual to robustly assess their needs and to develop corresponding tailored intervention Pathway Plans
  • To review the Pathway Plans
  • Identify accommodation needs and assist young people in securing appropriate accommodation options
  • To proactively work as an advocate for young people, navigate complex and contentious situations securing the collaboration of other agencies and individuals, to ensure appropriate resources are deployed

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Leaving Care Personal Advisor
  • Clear Enhanced DBS
  • Ability to attend the office 3 days per week
