Purpose of role:

 

To Maintain all EC&I equipment across the Heysham site:

  • Breakdown response and repair.
  • ATEX Inspections and SIF Proof testing.
  • Implementation of preventative maintenance plan
  • Arrange for servicing of switchgear and LV distribution inspections
  • Managing external contractors where necessary

Responsibilities:

 

  • Upkeep of all electrical plant and equipment in line with company's policies and procedures to a safe condition, compliant with any specific regulations.
  • Daily management and maintenance of Electrical Engineering breakdowns at Heysham in a Hazardous area environment.
  • Troubleshooting electrical, control and instrumentation faults and repairing them in a timely fashion
  • Responsible for development and implementation of preventative maintenance plan using site SAP system with particular focus on safety critical equipment.
  • To carry out proof testing on SIF circuits.
  • To assist as required in other engineering tasks as the workload demands.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and environmental regulations and conditions are adhered to.
  • Completion of necessary work permits and isolations to associated systems to allow safe maintenance & repair works to be carried out.
  • To maintain good housekeeping standards across the whole site.
  • Arrange for sub-contractor inspection and test to Switchgear and Distribution boards co-ordinate power outage with affected areas.
  • Arrange Earth bond and Lightning protection equipment inspections.
  • Continuous improvement of the electrical, control and instrumentation function to reduce plant downtime through reduction in equipment breakdown. Reduce electrical equipment maintenance costs year on year by analysis of site electrical engineering spend and targeting improved value of procurement or modification to specification of the equipment to achieve overall savings. Where possible engineer out issues by installation of more reliable and fit for purpose electrical and control equipment.  
  • Assist the Project Engineering for the supervision of all electrical, Instrument and control contractors to ensure compliance with the regulatory (specifically 19th edition of the wiring regulations, ATEX etc) and company procedural requirements for health, safety and environmental issues.
  • Control the stock of electrical, Instrument and control spares and consumables with respect to cost and reliability to allow for timely and effective maintenance interventions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and method statements for all new electrical, instrument and control work tasks that are undertaken. Ensure all contractors coming to site provide a method statement before work starts. Assist in providing HAZOPs for new projects by involvement in the HAZOP team.
  • Contribute to improving the site performance in all aspects of safe operation, regulatory compliance, productive output and cost efficiency by improving the engineering reliability of site equipment and ensuring appropriate maintenance frequency.
  • Provide electrical engineering support and knowledge.
  • Keep accurate written records of work carried out using SAP CMMS system
  • Work with and in compliance to written maintenance and operational procedures
  • Develop task instructions for all routine electrical maintenance tasks. (Human Factors)
  • Carry out work in accordance with the restrictions set in HSWA, IPPC, COSHH, and any other relevant regulation or standard.
  • Contribute to achieving the department's and site's production and performance objectives.
