I am seeking an Electrical Systems Technician to join my client on a contract basis in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire.
Must hold current electrical standards and wiring regulations (BS 7671) and be familiar with Process Control Systems (Honeywell DCS and Safety Systems preferred).

You will act as a technical supervisor to a small group of assembly technicians in their daily activities to ensure that works are executed as per requirements.
You'll gain a good understanding of all hardware platforms used in the business' projects, such that a small team of assembly technicians are able to integrate the total hardware solution effectively.
You will be able to power-up the total hardware solution to ensure that the execution of the customer FAT can start as per agreed schedules and without known quality issues.
The Integration Centre activities are executed in line with applicable safety and quality standards.


Role: Electrical Systems Technician
Location: Motherwell, Lanarkshire
Contract: 6-12 months. Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4pm
Pay rate: 15.38 - 17.79 per hour PAYE, plus holiday pay in addition


Main responsibilities:

  • Share technical knowledge with assembly technicians
  • To power up the different hardware platforms so that the total hardware solution can be handed over to the project engineering for application software loading & testing
  • Complete electrical inspection and testing prior to power up of hardware (Earth Bond and Flash Testing if required)
  • Authorised Electrical Person - Responsible for issue of electrical connection notice (Lock out Tag Certs ETC.) and all Isolation, De-isolation and Connection of electrical equipment
  • Maintain register for setup and connection of legacy test equipment as part of FAT to simulate customer plant
  • Maintain register for setup and connection of Test Racks required for Safety Systems
  • Ensure that after the finalisation of test activities, the total hardware solution is disconnected and the hardware equipment is prepared ready for shipment
  • Proactively recommend potential quality and efficiency improvements within the integration centre team
  • Report progress and technical problems.
  • Maintain test and calibration records of test equipment required for I/O measurement and simulation.
  • Take ownership for system log register for all system hardware defects and execute resolution.
  • Support engineering with FAT activities if required.
  • Complete all procedural and documentation requirements for all systems under test.
  • Available to work offshore if required (preferred but not essential)


Ideal candidate profile:

  • Holds current electrical standards and wiring regulations (BS 7671)
  • Familiar with Process Control Systems (Honeywell DCS and Safety Systems preferred)
  • Competent IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office package
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • OPITO Approved Offshore BOSIET training preferred (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training).
  • Competent in the use of a computer / IT skills
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Candidates must already hold the right to live and work in the UK at the time of application.
