Senior Quantity Surveyor – Scotland Wide – Up to £70k DOE + Car Allowance + Package

First Task Professional are currently working alongside a civil engineering contractor who are gearing up for an extremely busy few years with multiple wins within big civil engineering projects in the energy / power sector.

As such, they have a requirement for Senior QS’s to work on projects in both the delivery stages and pre-construction.

Why join them? The contractor has a very prominent industry reputation and are known for being able to successfully deliver large scale civil engineering / infrastructure projects. They work in partnership with some of the best specialist contractors to ensure safety and quality are delivered to the highest standards. They also support their staff through chartership and various other CPD channels- so if you want to level up your career, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Naturally, most substations and converter stations are in more remote locations… so there is a high likelihood of having to work away (with hybrid working) for the jobs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects to ensure quality, timeliness, and cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate on joint ventures, building strong relationships.
  • Lead contract negotiations for maximum profitability.
  • Mentor teams and enhance operational performance.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and multitasking abilities.
  • Supervise and guide the commercial team.
  • Manage commercial relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Oversee cost performance data and report preparation.
  • Ensure timely payment applications and provide contractual advice.
  • Handle financial aspects of insurance claims.
  • Manage team workload and time effectively.

Requirements:

  • Experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or advancing Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial skills.
  • Familiar with NEC contracts.
  • Proven ability to mentor and collaborate with project teams.
  • Confident team player with a positive impact.
  • Relevant qualification (Degree, HNC/D).
