Job Summary: The Litter Picker is responsible for ensuring public areas are clean and free of litter. This role involves patrolling designated areas, collecting litter, emptying public waste bins, and ensuring that the environment is welcoming and safe for all users. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to environmental cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol assigned areas to collect and dispose of litter.
- Empty and replace public waste bin liners.
- Sort collected litter for recycling where applicable.
- Report any hazardous waste or large items for special removal.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas, including parks, streets, sidewalks, and public buildings.
- Operate and maintain litter-picking tools and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and company policies.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing any public inquiries politely.
- Record and report any maintenance or repair needs in public areas.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in a similar role is an advantage but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
- Good physical condition and stamina to walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of waste segregation and recycling principles.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work environment; exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Physical demands include walking, bending, lifting, and carrying items.
- Possible exposure to hazardous materials.
Schedule:
- 5am - 10am mon - fri
- 5am - 8.30 am on Saturday
Pay Rate - 12.82 (this includes your holiday pay)
