Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a manufacturer of commercial mowers and turf maintenance equipment in Ipswich. The ideal candidate will lead significant improvements in operations and apply lean methodology to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Expertise in weld support and laser & press support is essential for this role.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure seamless integration of parts and products into production.
  • Maintain safety, quality, production, and cost standards.
  • Provide essential weld support including process, tooling, documentation, tool design, and implementation.
  • Offer laser & press support; process development, and tooling support.
  • Support other primary areas such as form tooling, tube bending, and machining fixtures.
  • Manage new machinery specifications and implementation to support growth plans.
  • Handle primary area change notes, set standard times & routings, and review for Design for Manufacture (DFM).
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures where necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and engage in continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the primary team to sustain and improve processes and controls in existing production lines.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in weld support and laser & press support.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of PFMEA, SPC, and Quality Control Techniques.
  • Proficiency in CAD systems, Siemens NX preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Good understanding of ISO & OHSAS requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer-focused.
  • Versatile and self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision.
