Morson Talent have a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated Technical Manager to join our clients team in Cardiff. This is a key role within our technical department, responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and technical oversight of all laboratory equipment. As a Technical Manager, you will ensure that operations adhere to ISO 17025, ISO 17020, and ISO 9001 standards. You will also lead a team of technicians, manage external audits, and help drive the growth of our UKAS accreditation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee calibration and maintenance of all technical equipment, ensuring compliance with UKAS and relevant ISO standards
• Lead external audits (ISO 17025, ISO 17020, ISO 9001) with the support of the Quality Manager and other senior staff
• Develop and validate calibration methods, measurement uncertainty budgets, and other technical documentation
• Authorize staff technical competence and manage ongoing training to ensure continual professional development
• Liaise with customers and suppliers to maintain high service quality and resolve any technical issues
• Ensure a safe working environment by overseeing risk assessments, labeling, and safety procedures
• Drive the development of new technical capabilities, contributing to quarterly reports and long-term strategic planning
• Manage technical data, ensuring proper documentation, traceability, and adherence to confidentiality standards

Key Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years in a calibration or test environment, with extensive knowledge of ISO 17025, ISO 17020, and ISO 9001
• Recognized qualification in a relevant technical discipline
• Competent in managing calibration methods, uncertainty budgets, and staff competency
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring high standards of performance and compliance
• Health & Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards in a technical lab environment

Desirable Qualifications:
• IOSH Managing Safely certification
• UKAS Laboratory Management training
• Experience in managing internal and external audits
