Totecs client is a local authority who urgently require a qualified Electrical Design Engineer who has experience in the property construction field.

You will provide expertise in design, and provide advice relating to clients building services requirements in a variety of building types from schools to commercial offices.

Your Role

Under the direction of the Project Director - Mechanical and Electrical Services, provide a full range of design and supervisory engineering services in respect of Electrical Building Services installations.

Follow strict guidelines within schools, community centres, swimming pools, etc. ensuring the building is fit for purpose e.g. Lighting, Power Distribution, Fire Alarms, Door Access, Security systems, A/C, BMS control and energy saving system and Sprinkler systems etc.

Liaise with Architects to determine materials needed for projects and stay within the established budget

Ensure building services design to be fit for purpose and meet safety and energy requirements.

Keep up to date with the ever-changing regulations, apply these changes and improvements to all buildings and be responsible for the inspection and approval of existing and new engineering services.

Ability to project manage as well as design in-house capital programmes and ensure good relations are maintained between the Engineering, Architecture, Structures and Building Surveying disciplines.

The management of consultants and contractors on major project design and build contracts.

To create detailed building services performance briefs and work collectively with all stakeholders to oversee project and as a technical adviser.

Accountable for in-house project design and supervision of capital maintenance projects and provide technical design drawings and specs along with budget estimates and financial control.

To comply with Health and Safety at Work Act and CDM Regulations.

To become familiar with the Council's policies.

Requirements

Significant experience as an Electrical Design Engineer working within a building and construction environment

HND/HNC or equivalent HTC qualification in Electrical or Mechanical services

Working knowledge of AutoCAD drafting programmes including Revit 3d.

Experience in planning and controlling groups of projects

To understand and interpret technical drawings and specification in relation to the full range of mechanical, electrical and associated installations
