TeacherActive are proud to be working with a Neath primary school who are looking to appoint an excellent grade 6 Higher Level Teaching Assistant to lead the Nursery setting on a full-time basis. The position will start after February Half Term until the end of the academic year. The successful candidate will:
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Have excellent communication skills and be committed to building positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
- Have experience of working in Foundation Learning, supporting high quality teaching and learning.
- Understand the skills needed to support children with additional learning needs
- Enthuse, motivate and engage children in all areas of learning.
- Be willing to contribute to the broader life of the school community.
- Meet Higher Level Teaching Assistants standards or equivalent qualification or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with children of relevant age in a learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meet Higher Level Teaching Assistants standards.
- Excellent numeracy/literacy skills - equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent.
- Training in relevant learning strategies e.g. literacy. Specialist skills/training in curriculum or learning area e.g. bi-lingual, sign language, ICT.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Can use ICT effectively to support learning.
- Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice/legislation.
- Working knowledge and experience of implementing national/foundation stage curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies.
- Good understanding of child development and learning processes.
- Understanding of statutory frameworks relating to teaching.
- Constantly improve own practice/knowledge through self-evaluation and learning from others.
- Ability to relate well to children and adults.
- Work constructively and flexibly as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
- Ability to organise, lead and motivate a team (if applicable).
- Good communication skills.
