HGV Technician
Location: Neath, SA10 8ER
Shift times: Day shifts and late shifts
Pay rate: 18.52

Manpower is currently recruiting for HGV Technician in Neath for our National Client starting as soon as possible.

This role is Temp to Perm

You will work on a rota basis an early shift one week and a later shift finishing around 11pm the other.

1 week out of 6 you will be on on- call duty

About the role:
In this role you'll maintain and repair our fleet of vehicles and trailers, providing technical support from fault analysis to completion. We're looking for a proactive individual with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of vehicle systems. You'll ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards and keep organised documentation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Perform general maintenance repair work on the company's fleet of vehicles and trailers.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are in safe working order.
  • Execute all repairs to the highest standards.
  • Conduct in-depth engineering work and diagnostics.
  • Work effectively both independently and within a close-knit team.
  • Carry out all repairs in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
  • Safely operate all relevant equipment, machines, and tools.
  • Complete all associated documentation accurately and in a timely manner.


We are seeking candidates who:

  • Hold education to City & Guilds standard in Mechanical Engineering or possess an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Have previous experience as an HGV Mechanic in a similar role.
  • Preferably hold an HGV C+E licence (Class 1) and a current ADR, although this is not essential.
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of vehicles, trailers, workshop plant, and equipment.
  • Possess the capability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic problems.
  • Display the ability to multitask and meet key deadlines effectively.
  • Exhibit rigorous fault-finding skills.
  • Can work effectively under pressure.
