We are working with leading designer and manufacturer FMCG Special Purpose Machinery based in the Nelson area who work in various industries, including food, chemical, industrial, and pharmaceutical.

They are currently looking for a skilled Lead Mechanical Design Engineer/Design Manager. The company has a strong reputation for innovative designs and outstanding customer support, with a history of over 80 years in the industry. The role involves managing projects from concept to completion, producing detailed manufacturing drawings, and developing new products while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

This role would suit someone with a strong background in bespoke machinery design, excellent CAD skills, and the ability to work closely with various stakeholders, including manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales engineers to manage new design projects from concept to completion.
  • Develop concepts, sketches, mock-ups, detailed manufacturing drawings, and 3D CAD models.
  • Work hands-on with production teams to meet customer requirements and develop new products.
  • Ensure all designs conform to industry health and safety standards and customer specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain BOMs, technical documentation, and operating instructions.

In return you'll receive a salary up to 55k, 24 days + Bank Holidays and a matched pension at 6.5%.
