Your new companyI am working with a reputable manufacturing business based in Nelson who are seeking an experienced Accounts and Payroll Assistant to join their team on a permanent and full time basis. They are renowned for providing advanced manufacturing solutions across various industries across the UK, having been established for over 50 years, the company has grown significantly and now employs over 150 employees. Your new roleIn your new role as Accounts and Payroll Assistant, you will manage and process payroll for 120 employees, including manual calculations for statutory payments and holiday pay. You'll handle pension calculations and payments, produce reports, and manage monthly pension uploads. The role requires close collaboration with an outsourced payroll provider and the HR team to ensure accurate payroll changes. You'll also identify and implement process improvements, record payrolls into the general ledger, and reconcile payroll accounts. Additional tasks include cashbook processing, month-end journal production, and supporting the finance team with purchase and sales ledger tasks. Knowledge of accruals, prepayments, and depreciation is essential. This is a full time role, working Monday to Thursday 8:30am-5pm with an early Friday finish.

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful for this role, you will have a minimum of AAT Level 2 and over two years of payroll administration experience. You will have prior experience in accounting or finance, a solid grasp of basic accounting principles, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software. You will have strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
