Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in Neston as they are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced teaching assistant for a long-term temporary contract. This role is based in KS2 (Key Stage 2) but does include additional support across the EYFS and KS1 classes. This is a full-time temporary contract starting after the February half-term, but an immediate start can be accommodated.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be based in KS2, supporting all-year groups from 3 to 6. You will work alongside the class teacher to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment by effectively managing resources and utilising a variety of learning equipment. You will offer intervention and booster sessions in core subjects, including intense sessions within a separate classroom to lower/mixed ability pupils. As this is a varied role, you will at times be required to support the EYFS and KS1 classes, aiding in general classroom management and supporting with interventions and phonics sessions. You will implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies across all classes, with the school's preference being positive behaviour reinforcement. There are a number of pupils with SEN across the school that have allocated 1:1 support that will require your assistance at times.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience working with KS2 aged students in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Confidence to support all primary year groups as required
  • Extensive experience delivering intervention and booster sessions
  • The ability to implement positive behaviour strategies
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
