Are you ready to take the lead in cutting-edge mechanical design for high-profile defence projects? Join a market leader in the defence engineering sector as a Principal Mechanical Engineer (or Lead Mechanical Design Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer), where you will play a critical role in delivering innovative solutions. You’ll manage designs, conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Thermal Analysis (CFD), and act as the primary point of contact for customers, manufacturers, and test houses.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and sign off on all mechanical designs, ensuring the team follows industry standards and best practices during design, development, and build phases.
  • Conduct FEA and CFD analyses to validate designs.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for mechanical design across the business.
  • Support and resolve mechanical issues during the design, development, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure mechanical designs adhere to Configuration Management (CM) processes, and oversee baseline and change control activities.
  • Produce, review, and approve technical documentation, including CAD drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Lead the mechanical engineering team to ensure compliance with project requirements.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong experience in Mechanical Design Engineering, with expertise in FEA and thermal analysis.
  • An engineering degree in a relevant discipline (or extensive experience in mechanical design).
  • Familiarity with mechanical standards in the defence sector.
  • Ability to take initiative and lead in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent problem-solving skills.
