Role Overview:

As a Primary Teaching Assistant (TA), you will work closely with the classroom teacher to support the learning and development of students with special educational needs. You will assist in delivering tailored lessons, providing support in small group activities, and offering individual assistance where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of primary curriculum lessons to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist with individual and group work, ensuring all students are actively engaged and making progress.
  • Provide one-on-one support for students who require additional assistance.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment that builds students’ confidence.
  • Monitor and track student progress, ensuring their learning needs are met.
  • Collaborate with the teacher and other staff members to ensure the best outcomes for all students.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teaching Assistant (Level 3) or equivalent, with a genuine interest in supporting children with SEN needs.
  • Experience working with challenging pupils, especially those with SEN, is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively with both small groups and individual pupils, providing personalised support to address specific needs.
  • A full UK driving license is required, as off-site support may involve travel to external educational provisions.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and use empathy and patience to support students with their emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with teachers, parents and other professionals.
  • A proactive attitude to supporting children and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Full-time availability and a commitment to long-term support.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
