Are you a compassionate and patient individual with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
GSL Education are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work within a nurturing and inclusive SEN school in the High Peak area. This is a full-time role where you will play a key role in supporting students with a variety of SEN needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will provide one-to-one and small-group support to students across a range of ages and abilities. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the development and implementation of individualised learning plans (ILPs), providing support in both academic and personal development, and working collaboratively with teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEN, ensuring learning objectives are met.
- Assist in delivering personalised interventions tailored to individual students' needs.
- Promote positive behaviour management strategies to encourage focus and self-regulation.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement ILPs and track progress.
- Support students with personal care and mobility needs, if required.
- Help students build confidence and independence in both academic and social settings.
- Use assistive technologies and resources to enhance learning and engagement.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Job Requirements:
- Experience working with students with SEN, particularly in a classroom or educational setting.
- A strong understanding of SEN conditions, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and MLD.
- Must be a driver, as the role may involve working across multiple sites or locations within the school.
- Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic nature to provide consistent support to students.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and students.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
