We are P&A Shopfitting a fast-growing privately-owned company specializing in internal fit-out and complete full new shop fitouts and refurbishment contracts for the biggest names in high street retail and luxury retail across the UK.

About the role:

P&A Shopfitting is a Main Contractor located between Bournemouth and Southampton. Due to expansion we are looking to recruit an Estimator to assist with tenders and delivering interior fit-out projects across the UK.

The Estimator is an integral member of the team responsible for dealing with tenders from receipt of enquiry, sending out enquiries to subcontractors, finalizing tenders to submission under the direction of the Commercial Director. Upon a tender being successful you will then be required to complete a handover and support the project managers in liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, purchasing of materials, arranging the hire of plant and also arranging / booking deliveries, as and when required.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working on interiors and / or shop fitting projects, preferably with a background in the trade having worked their way up to an Estimator.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Attend client meetings and assist with determination of project requirements, as and when required
  • Interpret drawings from concept designs through to full working construction drawings.
  • Complete detailed, trade specific enquiries and accurately communicate relevant information to the various subcontractors.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant information to the client and project team.
  • Maintain regular, consistent high level of service and professional relationships at all times with the client(s).
  • Identifying and minimise risk to the business.
  • Good understanding of construction methods and materials.
  • Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and for developing this attitude in others

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in the Shopfitting and Interior fit-out industry- ESSENTIAL
  • High attention to detail- ESSENTIAL
  • Sound knowledge and use of Microsoft Office particularly Outlook, Word and Excel- ESSENTIAL
  • Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills- ESSENTIAL
  • Ability to interpret drawings, produce take-offs and prepare bill of quantities- ESSENTIAL
  • Ability to send detailed, trade specific enquiries and accurately communicate relevant information to the various subcontractors to ensure accuracy of pricing- ESSENTIAL
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills, with a sound ability to prioritise- ESSENTIAL
  • Within commutable distance- ESSENTIAL
  • Self-motivated, pro-active, and keen to develop their role within the business
  • Experience of AutoCAD - Desirable but not essential
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
  • Experience in reviewing quotations to ensure fair, accurate and reasonable pricing is recommended for approval
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Ability to understand and identify main points in contracts from clients
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the client and project team
  • Supporting the project team in placing orders with suppliers and subcontractors, purchasing of materials, hiring of plant and arranging / booking of deliveries as and when required
  • Valid UK Driving license
