Learning Support Assistant - SEMH Secondary School - New MiltonAcademics are seeking a passionate Learning Support Assistant with experience of supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), to join an established SEMH School in New Milton. This is a full-time, term-time contract to start ASAP. The school is based in New Milton and caters for pupils aged 7-16 years who find mainstream school difficult. They were classed as a 'Good' school by Ofsted in 2019 where they stated that - OFSTED says in July 2019 "Pupils make strong progress during their time at the school and most are able to successfully return to mainstream schools. Many pupils achieve significant improvements in a relatively short period. The carefully crafted culture of the school and its curriculum enable many pupils to make strong progress in their social and emotional development"The school prides itself on recognising the barriers to education of their young people. Using detailed assessment packages, specific targeted work, coaching and self-reflection, they challenge and teach young people how to manage their emotions whilst maintaining academic progress. Issues can include inadequate social skills, self-awareness, motivation, self-regulation or empathy or any combination of these. They work to help young people develop socially and emotionally to unlock their personal barriers to learning as well as life itself.As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be required to support students across the school on a 1:1, small group and classroom basis.
