Highways Electrician

Working Pattern: 40 hrs per week Monday to Friday

Location: Bilsthorpe, Nottinghamshire

Via is currently looking for a Highways Electrician to join our Electrical Team based at our Head Office in Bilsthorpe, Nottinghamshire.

You will install, inspect, diagnose and rectify faults in street lighting, traffic signals and other electrical installations.

The Job

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Support the Electrical Chargehand/ Supervisor to undertake the installation and maintenance of street lighting, traffic signals and other electrical installations.
  • Carry out work efficiently, effectively and safely to keep costs within budget, ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specification and instruction.
  • Ensure compliance with all NHSS8, Health & Safety & Environmental accreditations.
  • Ensure all paperwork and electronic data is accurately processed, for it to be submitted to supervisor for final approval.
  • Support apprentices, work placements and students by providing mentoring and on the job training and guidance to support in their career development.
  • Be responsible for operating vehicles, plant, tools and equipment ensuring correct use and unnecessary damage, comply with daily routine checks, recording to legal requirements and reporting any damages or defects found.
  • Provide a flexible approach to working times / days depending on the needs of the business, and support work on an out of hours emergency call out rota.

The Person

Mainly you will be excited to be a vital part of our Electrical Team, but there are just a few other things wed like from you:

  • City & Guilds 236 / 2360 or equivalent (NVQ 3 Diploma in servicing and commissioning in highway electrical systems) 18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
  • Full Current Driving Licence.
  • Hold industry recognised qualifications, New Roads and Street Works Act.
  • Knowledge & experience in the use of plant, transport, materials and operations associated with Highway Electrical Installation and maintenance activities.
  • Experience in applying health and safety legislation.
  • Able to manage workload and using own initiative in relation to problems and changing circumstances.
