This is a leadership position within the Corporate Property & Estates function of the council and will be responsible for leading the Asset Management function.

Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and passionate person to become our Estates Manager. This role will be to lead, manage and deliver the effective performance and overall direction of the Estates/Asset Management, Facilities Management and Parking Services function of the business unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Strategic Asset Management function, overseeing corporate and commercial estates.
  • Conduct strategic reviews of assets and land holdings, assessing potential for redevelopment or disposal.
  • Oversee the performance of the Council's business enterprise centre, operational premises (e.g., Palace Theatre, Civil War Museum, Leisure Centres), and commercial/industrial properties.
  • Manage the Council's sustainable energy procurement and decarbonisation efforts.
  • Implement revenue-generating initiatives and cost-saving measures across the unit.
  • Provide strategic leadership, ensuring adherence to legislation and Council policies.
  • Ensure the effective management of the Council's corporate procurement processes and deliver quality services within budget constraints.

Profile

The ideal candidate for this role will meet the below criteria:

  • Significant experience in a senior management role, ideally in asset management.
  • Proven track record inleading teams, managing budgets and delivering performance outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial property law, compliance and risk management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and decision making skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and relevant bespoke systems.
  • Highly desirable to have full membership of RICS or CIOB or similar professional body.

Job Offer

The Estates Manager position is paid at a BMG Zone 1 Grade with a salary of between 54,573 and 58,077.
