Robert Half is working with a large manufacturing business to recruit a new Financial Controller. This role will be the Number 2 in Finance to a fantastic Finance Director, and will look after a £100m t/o division of a multi-billion turnover group. The division is fully autonomous so you will get the advantage of having a broad role, but also the support, and career opportunities, of a large parent company.

Overview:We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Finance Controller to lead a high-performing team and manage all aspects of the finance function. This includes financial accounting, management accounting, financial planning and analysis, business partnering, and project accounting. As the Finance Controller, you will ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements, to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the month-end process and ensure accurate, timely reporting.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process with input and alignment from various business units.
  • Financial Planning & Insights: Provide regular financial insights, including identifying deviations from goals and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing finance team to drive continuous improvement.
  • Audit & Compliance: Ensure smooth annual statutory audits and adherence to UK GAAP, improving financial controls and processes.
  • Capital Expenditure: Manage capital expenditure, including financial appraisal and benefit monitoring.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and address financial risks, proposing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Tax & Compliance: Oversee tax preparation and submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • KPIs & Performance: Develop and implement KPIs to monitor departmental and business performance.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven experience in a multisite manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, standard costing, variance analysis, and capital expenditure management.
  • Leadership: Experience leading teams and managing statutory audits.
  • Skills: Strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Desirable Knowledge: Familiarity with finance ERPs, Excel and PowerBI.
  • Professional Qualifications: Fully qualified CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent, with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
