About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial aspects of major rail infrastructure projects in Nottinghamshire. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in contract management and quantity surveying, with at least 3 years of surveying experience. You will play a key role in ensuring the financial and commercial success of projects, from inception to completion, working closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the commercial management of large-scale rail projects, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
  • Manage the procurement, administration, and performance of NR 04 contracts.
  • Lead negotiations on contract variations, claims, and disputes to achieve best commercial outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with project budgets and financial targets, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed cost reports, forecasts, and commercial reviews for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Utilize CEMAR and Bentley ProjectWise systems to manage contracts, monitor project progress, and ensure document control.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, planners, and procurement teams.
  • Provide commercial input to project risk assessments, change management, and project controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations, including Network Rail standards.
  • Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the rail or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of NR 04 Contracts and contract management principles.
  • Proficiency in CEMAR and ProjectWise (Bentley Systems) is highly desirable.
  • A degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and financial acumen.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
