Health and Safety Advisor

Location: Colwick, Nottinghamshire (with occasional travel to Leicester sites)

Full Time Permanent role

Working Hours: 40 hours a week Monday - Friday

Are you an experienced Health and Safety professional with a background in waste management, heavy industry, or manufacturing?

Join a leading provider of Environmental and Sustainability solutions across the UK and Ireland, specialising in Waste Management, Resource Recovery, and Circular Economy initiatives to recycle materials, create clean energy, and drive sustainable change.

Responsibilities

  • Support compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at our Colwick and Leicester sites.
  • Work closely with site management to promote a safe, proactive work culture.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring that recommendations are actioned.
  • Lead incident investigations, provide guidance on policy updates, and offer hands-on support for safety improvements.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior team members, contributing to their professional growth and fostering a collaborative safety-first culture.

Experience Required

  • Previous experience in Health and Safety within waste, recycling, or manufacturing environments, or a similar industry.
  • NEBOSH qualification required; knowledge of COMAH sites and DSEAR risks is a plus.
  • Experience managing incident reporting systems including allocating incidents, conducting risk assessments, leading investigations, and performing internal audits to uphold compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, with a practical, hands-on approach to safety.
